I try not to miss people.
I don’t know why or how I do it but it works. You see, before you even make friends with someone consider this fact: there will come a time when goodbyes are the right thing to say. It will always happen. So don’t cling too much. Brace for the things to come. Expect the worst things–she dying in a car crash, she dying in a train collision. Reserve a tiny bit of everything for yourself.
It’s as if to say you should think (or probably tell) all your eulogies about her while she’s still living.
It’s funny, but I don’t really feel anything right now. They go teary-eyed over things. I don’t. Sometimes I miss the feeling of missing people.

i hate goodbyes the most. this reminds me of merlin, who has said to live his life backwards, so that he was happy with goodbyes and teary-eyed with first hellos.
how holden caufield of you. maybe you’re just trying to protect yourself. that’s understandable.
@Citybuoy: Maybe we could attribute this to the book (Catcher in the Rye is my favorite–and it’s not coincidental), which must have beefed me up in terms of emotional problems.
@Eon: Merlin as in Knights of the Round Table? Enlighten me. The ironical plot’s pretty interesting. :D
well catcher speaks for all teenagers in every generation. haha i haven’t been a teen in four years but i still feel like holden. haha did u know they were supposed to make a movie based on the book? salinger backed out because he didn’t want just anyone to play holden. some people even say that he wanted to play holden. haha
@Citybuoy: He’s really crazy. Enough to be one of the few people I idolize.
Meh, I know this girl and this guy who couldn’t even sympathize with Catcher in the Rye. I think they’re losers since birth, upon knowing that.
From wikipedia:
“…Merlin is a major character in T. H. White’s collection The Once and Future King and the related The Book of Merlyn. White’s Merlin is an old man living time backward, with final goodbyes being first encounters, and first encounters being fond farewells.”
I think it is White’s interpretation of how merlin can predict the future: because he lives backwards.
